5th Grade
Dear parents of incoming fifth grade students:
 
We hope that you are enjoying your summer and that you and your child are having a restful and wonderful vacation. We would like to take this opportunity to inform you about the recommended fifth grade supplies. Having these supplies ready on the first day of school, in August, will assist your child toward the desired organizational skills that are required in fifth grade. You might wish to save this otice to assist you when you begin to buy school supplies for your child.
 
The supplies that we recommend as a donation for your child's use are listed below.
 
  • Supply of pencils, 12 (already sharpened)
  • Fine-point felt tip black marker for outlining (not permanent ink)
  • Blue or red pen
  • 1/2-1 inch three ring binder - No Thicker (otherwise it will not fit in the desk)
  • 3 hole lined paper (not in a spiral notebook)
  • 8-10 Glue sticks
  • Colored Pencils
  • Crayons
  • Markers (thin point)
  • A ruler that has both standard and metric measurement
  • Scissors
  • Highlighter
  • Small pencil or equipment box (to fit loose items on this list)
  • 4 two-pocket folders
  • Thesaurus (optional)
  • Dictionary (that will fit into student's desk)
  • 2 boxes of tissue (for example: Kleenex Facial Tissue)
  • Simple Calculator (optional)
  • 2 single subject sprial notebooks, 70-100 sheets each (8 1/2 X 11" approximate size.
  • 1 package of 100 3X5 lined index cards (loose not bound in a book)
  • 1 ream (package) of white (81/2" X 11") copy paper (usually 20 lb.)

We will explain more about the use of these supplies to your child during the first week of school.
