Meet the Teacher

Aloha! My name is Ms. Mona Warren and I was born on January 31 and was raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I grew up in a family of five children of which I am the youngest.  I left Hawaii to go to college here in California and just never moved back.  Someday maybe...
I have been teaching kindergarten at Evergreen for many years and taught first, second and third grades prior to coming to Evergreen. I enjoy the spontaneity, enthusiasm and curiosity of kindergartners and look forward to coming to school each day.  I show the children all of cupboards full of books and tell them that I am 'book crazy'! I tell them that I hope they will love books as much as I do and then they will be 'book crazy', too.  I am so blessed to be able to DO what I LOVE, teach!!  Teaching kindergarten requires lots and lots of patience and repetition, but is so much FUN!!
I have two wonderful daughters, Lindsey and Jackie, both now grown and moved away.  Most of my family still lives in Hawaii and we love to visit them or have them visit us, neither of which happens very often.  I love the beach and anything related to the beach, and though the California beaches are a little different from Hawaiian beaches, I am still grateful for the sound and smell of the ocean. Something about the ocean brings back my childhood memories of chasing sand crabs and building sand castles...
My girls and I appreciate and enjoy creating all forms of art.  Both of my daughters are true artists; Lindsey is a painter and Jackie is a jewelry designer.  I am more of a crafter who likes to sew, papercraft, and arrange flowers.  I also am hoping to learn how to be a DIYer around the house and have enjoyed wandering the aisles in Lowe's and Home Depot.  I am a huge dog lover but I also love to bake, read, garden and watch romantic comedies.  A relaxing day includes a piece of my favorite See's chocolates, a hot cup of tea and a great book or a fun movie!
