First Weeks of School

We are off to a great start! The children seem to be adjusting to the kindergarten routine. Just some reminders:
Arrival:  School starts at 8:10.  Our doors will be open for students at 7:55.  Children should stand in a line at the door, they should not play or run on the blacktop as there is no teacher supervision.  If they have papers to return, remind them to get the papers out of their backpacks upon arrival.  Students arriving after the 8:10 bell will be marked tardy.
Dismissal:  As students are dismissed, please allow them a clear path through the gate.  Step aside if you see the line of bus riders as we need them to be able to see their way to the bus.  Once students are excused to their parent; we ask you to help them learn safety rules as you cross the street.  The kindergarten playground is NOT available for after school use.
Parent volunteers:   If you are planning to help in the classroom, please get your TB shots taken care of as soon as you can.  You must have your application, copy of your driver's license, and verification of your TB test on file in the office before you can start helping in the class.

Student Fees: The California Constitution mandates that public education be provided to students free of charge, unless a charge is specifically authorized by law for a particular program or activity. This constitutional right of free access encompasses all educational activities, whether curricular or extracurricular, and regardless of whether credit is awarded for the educational activity. The right of free access also prohibits mandated purchases of materials, supplies, equipment or uniforms associated with the activity, as well as the payment of security deposits for access, participation, materials or equipment. A process that allows for a waiver process for an otherwise mandatory fee, charge or deposit does not render it constitutionally permissible.
