Accelerated Reading
Students will be assessed four times a year using the STAR component of AR to find their ZPD (Zone of Proximal Development). The children enjoy their "AR" time because they are reading books that are at their level. They select books that are within their ZPD. After reading their AR book, the students take a reading quiz and sometimes a vocabulary quiz for that book. Point goals and quiz average goals have been set for each child. The goal is to achieve 100% of their own personal goal. We celebrate every time the children reach 25%, 50%. 75%, and 100% of their goal. By knowing what level they're at, the children are more apt to challenge themselves.
