Principal's Message

Welcome to another exciting year at Evergreen!  It will be one of growing, learning and gaining new experiences. Evergreen has an amazing history of developing the whole child- academically, socially and emotionally.  Our dedicated teachers and staff strive to develop strong character in our students while providing a rigorous academic program.  The Evergreen Community Club (our parent community) also supports our school with its active participation and donation of time and resources.

Evergreen is a school where students SOAR!  They Solve problems, Own their actions, Achieve, and Respect others.  It is also a community where we put “KIDS FIRST…every student, every day”.  Through our STEAM program, Project Lead the Way (PLTW), students are challenged to figure out solutions to real-world problems.

Our students reach new heights with reading and writing and gain new insight into solving mathematical problems. Students learn to work collaboratively in groups and often depend on their peers to help them problem solve.  They learn the value of a team and learn to collaborate through the use of technology.  Students at Evergreen learn about the “Keys to Success” and have opportunities to get involved with programs such as our Eagles with Heart Club, which contribute to character development.

Evergreen is also rich with awards!  Last year, we received the Golden Bell Award for our STEAM program.  In 2016, we received the California Gold Ribbon Award and the Civic Learning Award for Excellence. Evergreen is one of the few schools to receive the 2014 Exemplary Arts Program Award from the state for our outstanding arts program.  We have also been honored as a California Distinguished School in 2006, 2010 and 2014.   Evergreen has been on the California Business for Education Excellence Honor Roll in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2015, and 2016! These accomplishments validate and confirm the excellent education that Evergreen teachers and staff provide for students.

I am looking forward to another great year and to seeing our students grow academically, socially and emotionally as they SOAR ahead…

Student Fees: The California Constitution mandates that public education be provided to students free of charge, unless a charge is specifically authorized by law for a particular program or activity. This constitutional right of free access encompasses all educational activities, whether curricular or extracurricular, and regardless of whether credit is awarded for the educational activity. The right of free access also prohibits mandated purchases of materials, supplies, equipment or uniforms associated with the activity, as well as the payment of security deposits for access, participation, materials or equipment. A process that allows for a waiver process for an otherwise mandatory fee, charge or deposit does not render it constitutionally permissible.
